Our Mission
Magnetar Games Corporation is a research-oriented software developer based in Vancouver, Canada. We were incorporated in 1997.
Magnetar's goal is to create an interactive Internet gaming community that brings together games, players, and companies of all types. A key to this strategy is unprecedented support for the outstanding creative potential of the online gaming body. Gamers like to create, and our goal is to provide authoring systems that allow even a non-programmer to become more involved in his playing experience. By providing professional game development tools and software frameworks that are compatible with easy to use, user-friendly tools, game artisans of all talents can participate at the level of their interest and ability.
Magnetar envisions fostering an open federated network known as FederationX which not only hosts a global matchmaking system for games, but also acts as a publishing medium for members to share their game-related creative works with others worldwide. The result is a game community run almost entirely by its members, who have the tools necessary to reach to the stars.
Our strategy at Magnetar Games takes into consideration both the developer and the player, aiming to make gaming a better experience for all involved. We hope to pioneer a revolution in game development by utilizing exciting new technologies which will enable developers to spend more time creating games and less time reinventing wheels. Our long-term project--the creation of the FederationX Frame work--not only provides full support for the pervasive Microsoft DirectX standards but also breaks entirely new ground by:
- Introducing the High Level Architecture (HLA) standard to the game community, which will merge the worlds of game and simulation development.
- Utilizing .NET as a new development platform for creation of the next-generation games and tools.
- Building a federated game network infrastructure using off-the-shelf commercial technology.
